Successfully housebreaking a puppy is perhaps on of the biggest challenges any dog owner faces. In order to successfully housebreak a puppy dog owners need to be consistent patient. A lot of the time new dog owners won't have the patience required to train the puppy effectively it will end up passing most of its time in the crate.
Well trained dogs are in most cases happy trouble free they have usually be well trained by owner who show love attention have plenty of patience. It's always easiest to train dogs when combining these three traits.
When the dog has soiled the carpet or has eliminated under your bed the worst thing to do is to get mad start yelling call him bad. You can't allow your dog to have control of the situation either however as this will lead him to become the leader of the pack he'll then do as he pleases. Dogs don't like to go potty in the place where they sleep or eat. If you keep your dog in a closed in area such as a crate chances are you will not have elimination problems.
Crate training is the preferred method of housebreaking dogs by many leading dog trainers dog owners. Crates provide just enough space for dogs to sleep eat over time will become one of your dog's favourite places to just chill out.
Dogs usually need to go to the toilet first thing in the morning after meals sometimes before going to bed. A good idea is to get into a good routine give your dog a chance to go outside at these times. Try to give your dog plenty of time don't hurry him to go to the toilet. If you are late in letting your dog outside you may quite likely find an accident waiting for you.
For people who live in downtown apartments or places that don't have outside space paper training may be a more convenient way of housebreaking your dog. Paper training works by teaching your dog to always use the paper as his toilet spot. If you use paper training you'll need to replace the paper each day.
Once your dog is trained he will let you know that he needs to go outside to pee. Dogs usually do this by circling barking at the door or scratching the door. When this happens you can let your dog out then congratulate him by rewarding him with a treat.
